aimed at estimating Newark’s carbon footprint through an accounting of all its sources and sinks. The approach is a combination of research-based estimates such as ecophysiology of plants taking up carbon, demographic GIS analysis, remote sensing, and community based through input and suggestions, personal commitment, and outreach.

The aim is not only to account for all carbon sources and sinks but to take steps to a more sustainable future, reducing Newark’s carbon footprint.
